How can I lose weight is the 64-thousand dollar question isn’t it? Who doesn’t want the answer to that one? But what if we’ve been looking in all the wrong places for the answers.
As mentioned in a previous post about Jacques Peretti’s BBC Documentary highlighted, there’s been such a lot of misinformation about how we came to be so obese in the west and if you check out the full series you’ll learn about how, who and what has created the myths that answer the question:
Is the system you’re using really working?
We can eat what we like and still lose weight, and although I know it goes against all the conventional wisdom recommended over the last 20+ years, there is new evidence to show we’ve been barking up the wrong tree of what is a complex topic.
The complexity stems from us having to eat to live and unlike other so-called substances that people become addicted to, this one can be life-threatening if we decide to give-it-up, as those all too well documented eating disorders show.
And how sad it is to see people desperate to become wafer-thin, especially celebrities and public figures, as the pressure mounts to remainforever young where the downside rejects an innate wisdom and beauty inherent in the ageing process.
You only have to think of Karen Carpenter and the symptoms of anorexia she would have suffered.
How can you change your shape
The fantastic tools and techniques I use with clients, means that your outdated habits can be broken more easily than you know, where all you need to participate is your body, an open mind, and the willingness to play.
It’s okay to have a love food while reducing your weight, without the need for denial, in fact feelings of denial will work against your weight loss ambitions.
Food is not the enemy, there are no good or bad foods, which I’m sure you know on some level, but it’s important, not to imprison yourself, and what you’re thinking while you’re eating really matters. More on that later.
The one thing you want while changing your weight and shape is to feel satisfied, without feelings of withdrawal, denial, starvation or guilt.
Lasting change makes an immense impact once you’re on the right track, and finding out what caused you to gain weight is important so you can ensure you do less of that and more of getting on board with yourself and feeling good, not because you’ve been good today but because you actually feel good today. See the difference?
If you indulge in food, and it’s a big thing in your life, maybe it’s part of your family culture, you need to become aware of it, so you can identify your triggers and work on taking control of them, while letting go of what doesn’t work for you.
Losing weight is different for everyone!
It’s not just about eating
Weight loss is not just about eating, its also about educating yourself, just like anything, when you want to buy a new gizmo you probably Google it first. It’s important to take your body shape and health seriously, you owe it to yourself because this is the only one you have.
And the good news is you won’t have to lose your love of food, in fact it means quite the opposite, getting more involved by cooking and eating good wholesome foods will aid your health, energy and vitality.
The answer is you can lose weight, keep your love of food and let yourself off the hook once you start using the tools, tips and information I share on here, because this works, provided you do your bit too.
