Today 21st September, I’m launching a new local Weight Control programme (at St Paul’s Church Hall in Sandgate) offering the option for people to come along and change their weight for good. And this is for those who are committed to making lasting change. It will take as long as it takes, and that is difficult to predict as everyone is different. Its being run at a great price of only £5.00/wk and I am committed to your desired outcome and that will include ensuring that you don’t then just turn to another preferred substance, such as alcohol or shopping.
So we come to the main thrust of being slimmer and as everyone but everyone knows to lose weight we have to take in (consume) less calories than we use up (expend). This is a no-brainer. All schools of thought agree or do they, for now let’s assume it so.
But how to go about making the change is where opinions broadly differ. The world and his wife have their own ideas about how we achieve THIS ideal outcome. Most people associate losing weight with suffering, going without, denying yourself of something you like, you know how that goes. But does it really have to be this way?
It’s being increasingly shown that ‘diets don’t work’ and the reasons are getting clearer, as more scientific studies show similar data. In its simplest terms, people take part in a range of eating regime’s, go through a torturous eating plan (or not), but always have it in mind to resume normal eating as soon as possible. So what really changes?
Cheating The Eating Plan

One of the first things most people do is check and see how the eating plan can be worked around, how can it be cheated, what can we get away with? Does it sound familiar? 🙂 …
But is this route really worth the effort? Does it actually work? The evidence says that in 78% of cases it does not and that within 2-3 yrs of reaching your target weight the loss that you struggled and strived for has been regained, if not increased.
Change Your Relationship With Food
The key is to CHANGE behaviours around food, so that it no longer grips and calls when the mood changes through boredom, loneliness, anger, anxiety, lack of confidence, frustration, sadness, happiness, or feel free to add your own triggers here.
And that’s where we can harness the use of these newish psychological techniques that shift these feelings, behaviours, triggers and internal pictures.
