What is EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) and what does it help with?
EFT was developed by NLP Master Gary Craig, which he lifted from the origins of TFT Thought Field Therapy that Psychotherapist Roger Callaghan devised while studying Chinese Medicine. Paul McKenna introduced me to TFT on the phobia day, during my NLP training with him and Richard Bandler, back in 2004.
Gary developed it into a more generic form of tapping, before Roger’s system was so based in TCM where TFT has a different set of tapping points on the body for different conditions that when Gary trained with Roger brought out the engineer in him, and he simplified it.
This rendition is – in my humble – more efficient because it more easily gets under the car bonnet of an issue, not only the issue you want to address but a surrounding subset as well. It gets to the core of an issue efficiently, without having to talk over too much of your story. Tick!!!
What is EFT good for?
It’s good for clearing all manner of conditions besides phobias, it basically works on anything stress, or anxiety related and people use if for everything and anything. Nick Ortner at The Tapping Solution, and co-founder of The EFT World Summit, an annual online event running since 2009, made a film called Try It On Everything.
It’s a good tool to learn to use on yourself for all the following conditions and more:
EFT is currently going through a NICE trial for the NHS in the UK testing EFT on PTSD one of the more challenging syndromes for sufferers with a multitude of layered and interwoven mental health symptoms.
The technique has undergone many research studies, where these publications show the technique in a favourable light. When you go through to each specific post you’ll see they’re downloadable pdf’s for easier reference. Here’s the list which is taken off my EFT Practitioner Trainers website I used to run:
