EFT Summit – Day 1 …

Delays Create Bonuses

The OwlThe EFT Summit went live last night but there were massive problems with the servers … due to 40,000 people having registered and wanting to log on simultaneously … there were delays.

But it did kick off and I heard it around 20 mins after the due start time …

There was a choice of two speakers … Nick Ortner (the director of Try It On Everything and organizer of the EFT Summit) who gave a good interview to his sister, Jessica, the host of the series.

Nick OrtnerIt gave him an opportunity to explain what the event is about and how much had gone into organizing it.

Of course apologies came through the following day to announce that extra servers had been installed …  Problem solved.  An exciting if intense time-slot (if you’re going to get through it on the FREE arrangement within the 9-day window) … I don’t know about you but I like a challenge …

Ready set …. go …

As for the bonuses … we’ll just have to wait and see ….

If you’re looking to grow your business and are ready to take the plunge then get on board and come along – there aren’t many slots left and the total group size is only 70-people – which is a great for networking yet avoiding overwhelm from the crowd.

Cash RegisterI can’t wait …  Its going to be AWESOME … and you don’t come away thinking I’ve got to do this this this and this … you develop your business vision and implementation plan as you go through the weekend.   And you spend one day purely on Sales – the thing that most of us have hangups with … So you’ll learn to overcome these too …

If it speaks to you then sign up and Grow Your Business the biggest of your ambitions …

Here’s a link to check it out and take another opportunity to listen again to a 3-pt Tele-seminar to get you to leap into the unknown and grow yourself in your business …

Life’s Abundance – Pt 1 …

Energy Therapy

The OwlThis is becoming increasingly popular, especially EFT (Emotional Field Therapy).  It features greatly in relation to Life’s Abundance (perhaps more than Health) and is gaining interest during the economic ‘downturn’.

As a qualified AAMET approved EFT Practitioner I’ll confidently recommend EFT as a very effective tool when administered well.  Gary Craig developed EFT out of Roger Callahan’s TFT (Thought Field Therapy) and its been accessible to all, especially in the light of Gary Craig’s rather spiritual approach as he lays no dominant claim.

What Does It Mean To You

Gary CraigThere is a great cross-over between Abundance and Health and today we’ll look mainly at Abundance.  Now lets start with the preconception that people often have around the word ‘Abundance’, because there seem to be two interpretations.  There is the term that gets applied only in association with Wealth, that in terms of the Law of Attraction is a bit of a no-no because its just too one-dimensional.  And that brings us nicely to a broader understanding of the word, and has a much greater impact for ourselves and others, because its about community, paying it forwards, and synchronicity.  There are other implications such as” but for me more importantly the although money is part of Abundance there are many more elements:

How we treat others

  • Share things / food / ideas
  • Accept others for who they are rather than wanting them to conform to our ideas of how a person ’should’ be
  • Treat others as well as we treat ourselves and our nearest and dearest.

How we treat ourselves

  • Do we honor our bodies (are we connected to what our body needs at a particular time or do we conform to what is going on around us or what is traditionally required (doing set things at set times of the day – an itinerary imposed from outside the home, i.e. work commitments etc).
  • Do we give ourselves to love and passion or do we hold back (perhaps we’re fearful of being hurt or looking foolish)?
  • Are we comfortable in ‘our own skin’ or ever mindful of conforming to the stereotypes of the social and religious conventions?
  • Do we follow a hobby to the enth degree because we love it or do we approach it half-heartedly because we may appear a bit geek-ish?
  • Do we play with our children at their level and keep our ‘inner child’ alive or do we look on and refrain from the game?
  • Do we  speak to our children as small people or do we talk in some childish language that disconnects us and them from life and social development?
  • Do we work all the hours, convinced its for a greater good (providing for the family, the future, etc)?
  • Do we work at something we absolutely love to do and wake up in the morning eager to get to work?
  • Do we toil all year and have little to show for it or do we have a master plan to take us towards an early retirement?
  • Do we assume that anyone who aspires to have financial independence is someone who is greedy and looking to take advantage of others?

These questions provide some food for thought and next time we’ll look at the importance of how we’ve answered these.

I’d love to hear your thougthts on Abundance.

Four Action Principles

The OwlHere’s a really interesting article about the 4-Action Principles of building and strengthening the structure of Your Small Therapy/Coaching Business or Practice (BSSYAB).

It can be likened to being like a house it has to be able to withstand the forces of time and nature. And the two components are:

  • The Foundations of the Right Mindset – the right support system and the application of timeless success principles
  • The Structure – that makes up the right actions that need to be taken for your business

Once your foundation is secure … with a mindset that pushes you past your self-limiting beliefs, it’s time to build and strengthen the structure of your small business or practice by taking 4-actions that involve the ongoing study and application of success principles:

  • Define It – Discover your uniqueness and create your brand by making a platform from which you’ll share your message with the world
  • Market It – Identify your target market / ideal client by developing and sustaining a relationship with your same
  • Fuel It – Generate leads and keep your pipeline full
  • Leverage It – Networking off and online and through social networking, by creating joint venture opportunities; with your own products and services that create residual and leveraged income

Business IdeasHere in Part One of the series, we’ll examine the first part, defining your small business / practice; discovering your uniqueness, creating your brand.

PT 1 – Discover Your Uniqueness

My first question is:

What would you say is unique about your business practice?  The chances are you may well give some features of your business., such as:

  • My Therapy practice has a team of highly trained experts who keep up to date with techniques through continued training courses
  • We have a newsletter that highlights special offers and offer Health tips
  • We offer complimentary beverages
  • With product lines that are industry leaders
  • We use a cutting-edge software program that keeps track of the products customers buy, sets appointments for a year in advance

The Benefits

However the aspects that make your business unique come from further exploration than these surface attributes. It’s the benefits you offer – not the features – that make you unique.  And it’s important to dig deeper to explore all the benefits that your practice offer clients. Some of these examples may be:

  • Clients leave our practice feeling rejuvenated having shifted their issue
  • Clients always leave feeling heard, listened to, valued and relaxed
  • Clients don’t have to spend time researching what the most appropriate products are because we source them on their behalf, some of which they’ll have sampled as part of their treatments and being available to browse.
  • Because you are so up-to-date clients can rely on your information and treatments

Here’s an exercise to help you get in touch with your uniqueness.  List as many Benefits you can think of that your clients receive by doing business with you.  Be as imaginative as possible, don’t hold back, and don’t be shy about blowing your own horn – root ta toot …

Create Your Brand

What makes people care about your business is how well you satisfy their wants and how you make them feel in the process. And this experience is fundamental to creating your brand.

What is a brand?  Firstly, this is what IT IS NOT:

  • Your company logo
  • Your tag line
  • Your business card : brochure : letterhead : website
  • Your products or services
  • Your niche area
  • Your marketing or advertising

The Full Impact

However your brand should come through in everything you do, like your product, services, identity package, website and marketing.  Brand consists of two components:

  • What clients experience when they have contact with your business practice
  • How clients feel after they buy or use your products or services

Whats Your Buying Experience

Examine any well-known brands and see if you can identify your experiences in using them and what your perceptions are, and how you feel after doing business with them.  Clients respond to integrity and authenticity, and its up to you to provide the consistent opportunities for them to have this experience and perception of you and your business.

Market Leaders

Branding is for every business no matter what size.  Having a brand not only gives you a competitive edge and positions you as a market leader.  Going through the branding process helps you to experience your company through a fresh pair of eyes, because it takes time and thought to delve deeply into discovering your uniqueness and building your brand but you can begin the process by also answering the following questions:

  • How do you want clients to feel when they buy from you and your services
  • What do you want clients to say about you after they have bought from you or used you services
  • Now begin to think of ways that you can create this experience for them and this will get you started on the amazing journey of creating your brand

Next Time

In the next part of the series, we’ll examine the second component of defining your business  practice in creating the platform from which you’ll take your message out to the world.

Cagora’s Market Place …

Cagora

The OwlI want to talk about Cagora because its coming and its going to be big … and because its different and promises to be a ‘One Stop Shop’ with amazing potential to affect how we use the Internet in the future and therefore affects everybody.  It has a win:win philosophy and has been built ‘by the people for the people’.

What is Cagora?

Greek PillarsGood question … The easiest way to describe it is as an Online Market Place/Community Centre where everyone hangs out … And here’s some of what it contains:

  1. Business – trading in your niche market
  2. Education – want to run an educational program then you can have a space with visual / speaking and chatting facilities
  3. Encyclopedia – check out any information
  4. Forum – get together and discuss the latest ‘hot topic’
  5. Market Place – find any service you currently use online
  6. Meeting Rooms – call a meeting to discuss your next business strategy
  7. Seminars – hold seminars to reach your wider audience
  8. Gifts ShoppingShopping – everything under one roof
  9. Social – get together and hang out with family and friends locally, nationally and internationally
  10. Training – run a training course and get your colleagues up-to-date with the latest ‘in-house’ information
  11. Videos – upload your latest business promo’s or your wackiest moments
  12. Workshops – facilitate practical ‘hands-on’ workshops where participants can engage and follow along in ‘real’ time

To name but a few … It has everything we currently use and more and has been almost a decade in its creation.  Where we currently visit Facebook, MySpace, eBay, Amazon, YouTube and other familiar friends, it will all be accessible in closer proximity like a ‘traditional’ market, with just one username and password to gain access …  So you can more easily bump into friends, family, business colleagues and workmates.

It’s simple, just log on and that’s it … whatever you want to check out online will be viewable right there under the Cagora Umbrella …

Web 2.0 – Social Networking

SocialYes its very exciting and not only to Online Businesses, because Web 2.0 is being increasingly recognised as a key marketing feature for ALL business’ going forwards.  There is a slow realisation by many so-called ‘offline’ business’  who are recognising a market potential through customer connection available on the net.

What Web 2.0 does is enable a Business to talk to potential and ongoing Customers, and more importantly it allows Customers to have a look at a Business before they stop to purchase and decide on the ‘cut of their jib’.   This has wonderful potential for companies to become more market accountable.

The Community of Cagora

Cagora’s main thrust is COMMUNITY both off and online. They are about giving back/paying it forwards to the Community Partners and Affiliates, and includes a dedicated percentage towards community nominated projects. I don’t know about you but I think its exciting and has a great future  …

If you would like any more information then please contact me … or check out the affiliate program, which is offering a two-tier benefit until the end of the month.  Just to be clear this is NOT mlm … and if affilate programs are not for you, then there are plenty of other opportunities to get involved with Cagora in other ways.  You may want to become a Community Partner and there is more information here …  Or if you prefer then please contact me.

New Scientist

The OwlI was reading Michael Marshall’s article in this week’s New Scientist (7 March 09) where he talks about the latest findings regarding the relatively ‘new’ Social Networking that has been online for a while, and he discusses the implications.

Social Media

He refers to a recent Aric Sigman article in The Biologist where social media is the topic for discussion and the affects that Social Media, Facebook in particular, are having on face-to-face social contact, where Sigman argues against a commonly held view that its leading to isolation and loneliness (as most of us are aware) can lead to illness and death.  They’d been some ‘media’ who-ha that announced how being on Facebook could lead to cancer!

However Sigman was seeking clarification on the somewhat smudged association and it opened up a debate about how maybe socially vulnerable groups were being affected and was their chatting to friends online without face-to-face contact minimizing social skills and capabilities? Marshall’s article gave reference to a study published in the Journal of Social Issues back in 2002 where it asserted the opposite and how the social interaction found online did in fact ‘reduce loneliness and improve well-being’.

The Hidden Benefits

My FB PicHe added that another report in 2006 showed that people mainly stayed in contact on Facebook with people they knew offline.  He also referred to an article from the New Scientist from 2007 that gave beneficial examples of how some groups with social afflictions, such as Aspergers syndrome, are positively benefiting from social networking sites.

The House of Lords

Marshall also made mention of an imbalanced argument asserted, in the House of Lords, by neuro-scientist Susan Greenfield, where she put two particularly good questions:

  1. Why are social network sites growing?
  2. What features of the young mind, if any, are being threatened by them?

But Marshall advised she gave rather stereotypical and unsubstantiated arguments as she sited the Internet’s responsibility for an increase in ADHD and other such extreme examples.  All very disappointing of course.

Online Accountability

As a Business Coach to Therapists and Coaches I’m involved with both off and online marketing, and its clear that social networking is an important business tool going forwards.  I like the online ‘accountability’ factor (although scary at first) I feel it helps us examine our motivation and we get a quicker response online where something does or doesn’t work.

As for the report regarding most people being in touch with friends and family through sites like Facebook, I’m not so sure that this is still the case in 2009 as there are lots more people selling online than probably were 3-yrs ago, and subsequently taking their product to a ready-made market on the social sites.

Facebook and Twitter

And many successful Internet Marketers use Facebook (FB) to keep in touch with their customer base.  But Twitter, in particular, is proving to be the more immediate of tools enabling a large reach in whats described as ‘real time’.  And maybe there’s a switch coming as having thousands upon thousands of friends requiring a dialogue (in FB) is beginning to take its toll, at the business end of things.

Only this week on the www.thirtydaychallenge.com/tv radio show IMTW that Ed Dale runs with co-hosts Lynn Terry and Michelle MacPhearson, the  topic was Facebook and Ed talked about how its spinning out of control, advising the hundreds of messages sitting in the ‘inbox’ he’ll never have time to reply to.  He mentioned how its time to start splitting off the social (for your nearest and dearest) and business, and how the introduction of Fan Pages has enabled this, although nothing new I heard some say.  A little black and white perhaps.  But if we start denying access of our personal profile to our business market then how long before our prospective customers decide to head off to another ‘counter’, its difficult to predict. They may just ‘flock’ to Twitter, Facebook’s biggest fear.

Ed Dale

I look forward to seeing how Social Media develops over time because it looks set to stay.  For business purposes its time (if you haven’t already) to start taking it seriously and develop a presence there.  My recommendation would be to share the best of who you are, take it slowly and use it with integrity. Whatever you put on there becomes part of your history so be clear about what you want to achieve from the outset.  And don’t be afraid to open up and be accountable, because in my view that is the way the world and business are moving.  And I for one welcome it.

Fundraising with Social Media …

Getting the Word Out

The OwlHere’s an article that should be of great interest to any company with a ‘Paying it Forwards’ policy.  Don’t let the social networking terminology deter you from this fast growing avenue for fund-raising ideas. It’s time to understand why this approach should be part of your organization’s overall fund-raising strategy. Fund-raising is all about telling as many people as possible about your mission and reaching them where-ever they are and right now many people are networking online.

The reach of member communities, which includes Social Networking and Blogging sites, increased its active reach 5.4 percent during the past year, according to a Nielsen report and Nielsen Online has NetView panels in the United States, Brazil, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Australia.

The Growth

Red Nose DayFrom these countries alone, there was an incredible growth of 18% in time spent online between December 2007 and December 2008.  And although that number is significant, what’s mind blowing is the time people are spending online in these Social Media communities.  According to the Nielsen Online report this number exploded 63% to 45 billion minutes.  Facebook time increased by a mammoth 566%, (from 3.1 billion minutes in 2007 to 20.5 billion minutes in 2008).  According to the survey, these communities even beat ‘email’, once seen as the New Frontier only a few years ago, in their Active Reach by December 2008.  So this gives you an idea of how BIG this ‘technology’ is and the worth of looking at including it as part of your Fund-Raising Strategy.

Here are some clear definitions of The Basics:

Facebook

Is a free Social Networking site that is operated and privately owned by Facebook Inc.   Users can join networks organized by:

  • City
  • Workplace
  • School
  • Region

And connect and interact with others, including friends and family and send them:

  • Messages
  • Pictures
  • Updates
  • Personal profiles to notify friends about themselves

Most importantly for fund-raising, people can join ‘groups’ and ’causes’, such as non-profit organizations and/ or support individual fund-raising efforts.

Twitter

Is a free Social Networking and Micro-Blogging service that enables its users to send and read other user’s updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length which are displayed on the user’s Profile Page and delivered to other users who have subscribed to them (known as ‘followers’). Tweet to your friends, family, colleagues and network about your organization’s great work, inform them of an upcoming fundraiser, call for volunteers – it’s positively tweet-a-rific!  However its an important part of Twitter etiquette that you similarly tweet about other people’s products, organizations, business and social in order to develop a two-way street.

Widgets

For fund-raising purposes,  widgets can be associated with different campaigns within your website or direct people there from other locations such as Facebook.  A widget is anything that can be embedded inside an HTML page (in other words a web page) and this can add some content to a non-static  page.  Generally widgets are originated by third parties but they can be homemade.

It’s time to step up to the plate in this new and exciting world of fund-raising  where the opportunities are open for business and social purposes.   The great thing about these tools is that they are virtually free and in the case of Facebook and Twitter, completely free.  Combined with tradiiional fund-raising methods there is a dearth of online opportunity.  And consider how Social Networking can enhance your overall fund-raising strategies by bringing  in fresh ideas, attracting new audiences and potential donors.

Louise Langley Workshop …

The Sacred Quest

The OwlYOUR Sacred Quest … Louise Langley is an international speaker and author of ‘The Sacred Quest’ ~ which breaks new boundaries in the manifestation of abundance … The main claim for her book is that it diaries Louise’s personal journey as we travel with her on the road to her becoming an expert is her field, with the sense of it unfolding as it happens.  And as she journals her experience  it reveals  an undercurrent of vulnerability.  When you meet Louise her most noticeable features are her eyes and voice.  Her voice melodic and committed, her eye contact, earnest in their truth seeking.

About Louise Langley

louise langley4 Louise Langley Workshop ...

“As she followed her intuition implicitly after a meeting with a mysterious stranger in Dublin 2-yrs ago, a journey unfolded about her, one which has had both Louise and all around her quite astounded. She spent most of 2008 travelling all over the world to meet with scientists, complimentary and new-age experts working in joint partnership, as she gathered and translated into a more tangible format the information that continues to be filtered through her by whatever means.

And how would you like to begin to understand how to love the journey too, knowing it to be a game, a story you laid out for you to follow? How would you like to start to understand how to play the game?”

Louise’s workshops show us how! In order to raise our awareness we can stop living ‘in the head; and return to living from our heart-felt intuition. … And she shares all sorts of wonderful techniques that have unfolded throughout her own journey.

The Book’s Components

  • It’s a biographical love-story, describing Louise’s experiences over the previous 18-mths and how her life changed un-recognizably, following an event in Dublin during the summer of 2006 and what ensued.
  • It also illustrates Louise’s own lessons as an example of how it’s primal to follow our heart and intuition if we wish to be truly happy. Following Louise’s suggestions leads us to ‘live in our truth’ where we discover our self-worth, life partner and life work.
  • The final aspect that gives the book its objective approval in the form of scientific evidence is being found in various fields such as: astronomy; genetics; quantum mechanics; quantum physics; and re-emerging sciences that have been buried in ancient history. And Louise charts the many experts working simultaneously on similar energetic evidence.

The Retreat

  • HeartsHow to attract a love to you that is so potent, that it will totally take your breath away, even if you’ve been broken-hearted in the past.
  • How to transcend the kind of fear that is keeping you feeling isolated and disconnected and step into a place of divine grace and trust.
  • How to meditate in a way that will alter your vibrational frequency so that it is in complete harmony with your sacred love blueprint.
  • How to connect with the pure essence of ’sacred union’ drawing on the great love affairs of all eternity.
  • How to breathe heart energy into your own sacred union activation stone!

Testimonials for Louise

“It puts you in contact with yourself, it puts you in contact with the universe and it puts you in contact with your sacred quest.” Dave Rogers, Singapore, Co-founder and Head Coach of XL, Keynote Speaker, Investor and Executive Coach

“If you’re absolutely ready to live your life in the way that your heart desires, in a way that you may not even be aware of yet, to be challenged to your core whilst being supported, loved and honoured like never before, then you are ready to complete your sacred quest with Louise Langley.” Michelle Clarke – Head of Global Teams, XL
