I don’t know if you saw this advertised, I caught it late on, but it looks like a fun event.
Hot Flush Film Festival
The Film Festival in Brighton this weekend (3-4 October 2015) is being held to celebrate the works of women aged 50+ in front of, or behind the camera. It’s called the Short Hot flush film Festival.
Being stressed out, edgy, and all unnecessary
We all have those moments don’t we? In terms of getting older and juggling life, when we bump up against our old adversary stress, and it’s something that seemingly underpins every corner of western culture.
In response we need to develop more effective, and healthier ways of dealing with it, or it can turn well, to put it nicely… rather unpleasant if we insist on ignoring it.
Life has seemingly never been busier, and just taking time out, can so easily get overlooked, just like the very REAL contribution that older women make.
When it’s undervalued by yourself or by others, only you can change it. And sure it might be unpopular with your nearest and dearest. But EVERYONE needs some me-time.
A short planning exercise
Are you willing to play, by fitting this in over the next few days?
Take five, hide away somewhere, and just think about (or journal) what you’d like to have more of; a long walk in nature, meeting up with a really good friend for a cuppa, spending a romantic / cheeky evening with your partner, more time to spend at home, or something entirely different, make sure it REALLY floats-your-boat.
- What would you trade in?
- What would you prefer less of?
- How can you make it happen?
- What would be a noticeable action?
- What date and time are you going to diary it for?
You’re probably familiar with the concept of scheduling an appointment (with yourself) in order to make-time-for-you, in your diary.
It works, try it, especially if it’s a new concept. And if you know it, but somehow got out of the habit, jump back onto it.
Take the next steps
